On Friday 11 November 2005 at 11:11 PM, I became the Prinz of the Erste Karnevals Gesellschaft Germania Cincinnati. That makes me officially the Prinz of Fools. The German Karneval "Session" is one of the most foolish times of the year, and the Prinz and Prinzessin (or Prinzenpaar) are the leaders of the foolery. It is at once a great honor, a significant responsibility, and a good joke.
At our opening dance on Saturday 12 November we were introduced publically. There are Pictures are here and here. A great time was had by all the fools in attendance.
I'll post more in the coming days about what it is to be a Prinz of Fools.

LOL, It would be a hoot, but might get me into a bunch of hot water.
While I am the Prinz, the whole Karneval thing is steeped in deep traditions, including the where and when I can be the Prinz, etc.
I have heard that wearing the hat at non Karneval functions is frowned upon to the tune of hundreds of dollars in fines.
Note: The hat in the B&W picture here is not mine, it was loaned to me by former Prinz for the formal picture which was needed for publication by October 1. My hat was ordered from Germany in late July and was shipped "Budestposte Express Delivery" on August 31. It did not arrive until October 15. You can see it in the dance pictures.
