Early this morning, as I stood by the window of the fabulous room the Advisor folks put me up in while I am presenting at this conference, I reflected on the senses that Frank Herbert brought us in Dune. It was already over 95 degrees F. The expectation is that they will set a new record for the fourth or fifth day in a row today, topping out somewhere above 116 degrees. At 6:30 AM the sprinklers came on to water the trees, grass and shrubs that have no natural reason to be here except that the irrigation systems allow them to survive. Would it not be better to have zero vegetation outside because, after all, it is too damn hot to got out there????
So I am presenting out here this week. I have added a link on the right side to the downloads page at newbsconsulting.com. I will be taking that site down soon, but the link will be maintained to provide access to the downloads of presentations, etc.

I'm pretty sure the plants are secondary. The sprinklers are there to raise the humidity levels so stupid people will stop saying, "yeah, but it's a dry heat."
Oh, and can someone check on Brian Benz? I'm afraid that someone accustomed to Canadian climes might be in severe danger of melting....

Brian is OK, he showed up fro the Monday evening reception. I am not sure he was not suffering with heat stroke though since I was equally suffering from the heat or my failed atempts to beat the heat through the consumption of adult beverages
