As much as I woould like to keep Rachel and Jorge forever on the top of this blog, it is time to make a new report....

This week I attended the DNUG (Duetches Notes User Group) meetings in Kassel, Germany. It was enjoyable to meet with many friends from Germany and Europe as well as spend time with Bob Balaban and Kevin Cavanaugh from Lotus in the US.

I presented at the first breakout session on Tuesday, 14 November. The presentation was a re-work of the "How to make Domino Sites That Don't Look (and Act) Like Domino" that Scott and I have done several times. New techniques and examples were added.

The presentation materials are available here

The sample databases that are updated with the view examples taht work in both Firefox and IE are here

PermaLink What is in a name...09:17 AM

Yesterday, IBM/Lotus made a significant announcement at the
Deutches Notes Users Group (DNUG) conference in Hanover, Germany.  It is evident from that announcement and the coverage it got that Notes is not only not dead but it has an exciting future.  Ed Brill documents the coverage in his blog.

IBM/Lotus also announced yesterday in a more subtle way that they were bringing back the Sametime and Quickplace names for the products that were renamed by the marketing department to something totally forgettable.  This move is the subject of a lot of interest among the partners,  We have been asking "Why?" since the original name change, and yes, many of us have resisted using the new names, mostly because they are so forgettable.

Richard Schwartz sums up my feelings about this name thing in his blog.
